It’s been a long pandemic. A.Long.Pandemic. Some of us may feel like it’s been hard to be at our best weight at this time. Who among us has not started happy hour at 3pm while working from home?! Well, here to rescue you are 4 hacks for looking your slimmest in a dress!
Dress silhouette waistlines – where a dress waistline “hits” you can make all the difference! The hack is to make it hits you at the slimmest part of your torso. Take a measurement of your natural waist (tip sideways, little teapot – that will show you where). Then take a measurement right under your bustline (where your bra is). Whichever is the smaller measurement will help you figure out if a classic Fit and Flare dress, which highlights your natural waist, or an Empire waist dress, which streamlines your torso, is the slimmest look for you. (If both measurements about the same – you will look great in either!)
Sleeves – If toned upper arms are of no concern to you, a sleeveless dress is a great choice because it allows you to be cool when the weather is hot and not have any bulkiness when adding a jacket or sweater in colder weather. However, if you have concerns, opt for a three-quarter sleeve. Designed to hit you in the slender part of your arm, right above the wrist, it is visually slimming! Time saving bonus – you won’t even need a jacket or sweater.
Necklines – It’s so much harder for us well endowed girls! Crew necks are not always a friend to us. The universal slimming neckline is a V neck because it creates a taller, leaner look and draws the eye upward.
Colors – Solid colors will create a streamlined, lean look. Of course, black is the best for this! However, a long silhouette of a single color can work as well. Love a good pattern? Add a beautiful scarf around your neck which draws the eye up to your beautiful face. We all have those scarves stuffed in our drawers that we wish we would wear more often anyway! (Hello $400 Hermes scarf I bought on a whim on a trip once!)
No matter your body conscious issue, it IS possible to look your slimmest in a dress. We hope this information helps “narrow” down the matter for you!
Wishing you well in this difficult time,
Diane
